This year - perfect weather for the Wineglass Marathon and some crisp cold mornings to be in the storage shed and out placing flags. Several local organizations placed course markers, including Corning Rotary. Stu, Tom and Andy met on Friday to sort out the materials and get them packed into containers for the three placement teams.
Then, Sunday morning at zero dark thirty, the Teams gathered up the materials and went on the search to place the signs, cones, directional tape. The fun part is finding the locations in the dark. This year we used updated placement maps and an app called what3words to help find the elusive locations. Long time Team members also helped us [newcomers] learn the nuances of placement. By 0720, all was well... Bring on the runners.
After the race, the cleanup crew gathered up all the materials and took them back to storage - ready for 2023! Thanks to all the Corning Rotarians that made this happen: Rick Davis, Stu Sammis, Jan Harvey, John Brown, Jim Webb, Wendy & Pete Winnett, Ernie Danforth, Darin Strong, and Tom O'Brien.
