Corning Rotary Offers Scholarships to Local Graduates
The Corning Rotary Club of Corning announced that it is once again awarding financial scholarships to outstanding high school seniors in the greater Corning area.
“We are delighted to be able to offer these valuable scholarships again this year,” says Dr. Geraldine Wolfe, Corning Rotary board member and member of the Scholarship Committee. “It is important to recognize and reward our local high school and Corning Community College students with scholarships in honor of their commitment and dedication to community service right here in the Corning area.”
To be eligible, seniors must graduate in June 2016 and must enter a continuing education school program of two or more years by the fall of 2016. The scholarships are also available to second-year students at Corning Community College who are continuing their education at a four-year institution. Although scholarship amounts vary from year to year, in the past awards of up to $1,000 have been granted to scholarship winners.
The primary criteria for selection are a student’s demonstrated commitment to community service during his/her high school or college years, together with acceptance into a continuing education program of the student’s choice.
Applications are available at Corning Rotary website. Just click HERE. Applications are also available in the guidance offices of all local Corning-area high schools, and at Corning Community College. APPLICATIONS MUST BE POSTMARKED BY APRIL 29, 2016.
All applications will be reviewed and selections made entirely at the discretion of the Scholarship Committee of the Rotary Club of Corning. Application finalists may be interviewed by the Committee. Scholarship awards will be announced by early June 2016.
Questions may be directed to an applicant’s high school guidance office.
