Our new Corning Rotary President, Pauline Emery, opened the first meeting of our new year on July 9th. It's been a busy time! Lots of news and upcoming events. And - special recognition for members that place Service Above Self. And — our newest member is introduced to the club!

Guests / Visiting Rotarians: Amanda Basabakwinshi was introduced by her spouse -- by club member, Yannick; Corning Rotarian Gerry Wolfe - glad to see you!; Scott Darro brought his father Jack - a 42 year member of his Rotary Club. They told us about a possible activity involving 3,000 rubber ducks, as a fund-raiser. 🐥
New Member: Michael Dickey was introduced by Stacy and Wendy: Michael is a practicing lawyer. He and is wife split their time between homes in FL and NY and they've been here for 6 years. They're looking for community involvement opportunities and to get to know their new neighbors. Please welcome them and get to know them!

Our newest Paul Harris Fellow: Yumiko Akiba. First, Les gave us the background of Paul Harris and the PH Fellowship. Next, several members from the organizations that Yumiko has worked with spoke of Yumiko's many contributions; Gerry Wolfe described the wide variety of activities that Yumiko has participated in, coordinating projects with Rotary volunteers. Yumiko brings SUPER enthusiasm and can-do attitude to our various events !! Gerry and Wendy Winnett presented her with the Paul Harris Fellowship.
Next there was was an additional special Paul Harris recognition for Gerry Wolfe. She received her 2 sapphire pin for her continued support of the RI Foundation. We're glad to see Gerry!
Today's Program was brought to us by District Youth Services Anne Morrell: the subject was Rotary District 7120 Youth Exchange. Anne covered the many complexities involved in running the program as well as the warm stories about student successes here and abroad. More info in the video!
