[May 2020] On Saturday, May 16 the Corning Rotary Club hosted a successful Spring Cleanup Session at the Kate Danforth Community Gardens. The Gardens, named in memory of Kate Danforth, the late Corning Rotarian and Professor of Mathematics at Corning Community College, are located adjacent to the Town of Corning offices in South Corning. The cleanup session drew great participation from Rotarians and friends, including Ernie Danforth, Stu Sammis, Dale Wexell, Wendy and Peter Winnett, Laura and Stephen Matson, Yumiko Akiba, and John Brown.
Stu Sammis, Corning Rotarian and organizer of the Gardens, reports that every planting bed has been rented this year. To inquire about openings at other local community gardens or for next year, community members may contact Stu at sammissk@hotmail.com.
