Next Club Meeting: September 23rd 9-16-2021 Zoom Club Meeting [recording] Jeff Ugoretz opened the meeting at 12:03 p.m. with the ringing of our bell; the recorded singing (by Lee Greenwood) of “My country ‘tis of Thee”; the Pledge of Allegiance; and an invocation by Ray Defendorf.

reśident Jeff Ugoretz welcomed everyone and began by congratulating all Rotarians who attended and had a part in the First Responders Park event held last Saturday on the 11th. It was very well attended and a great job done by Don Creath and Ernie Danforth. It was stated that at least 18 Rotarians attended this special event which also dedicated the walkway and new sculpture, to our well loved deceased Rotarian, Lew Brown. - This week was our second in-person meeting at the former Radisson. Please use the link provided on our Rotary Home Page ASAP, as the selections need to be made a week ahead of time; however, they are giving us some leeway this time. Please ask Andy if you have any issues with this and he will make sure you get the meal you want and you can pay next Thursday. Postcards were sent out out to members in an attempt to make sure all our members know. Please be patient with this new meeting process as well as the proposed attempt to do a hybrid meeting via Zoom. Also, Jan is requesting feedback in regards to next week’s meals so we can continue to improve the process. Andy has included a lunch choice if you want to attend but not order food. The online ordering system [labelled PayPal] lets you use your Visa/Mastercard. How-to. If you order through Andy, please bring cash to pay for your meal.
- EVENT RESCHEDULED to TBD: September 23 5:30 pm: dinner meeting at the DoubleTree [formerly Radisson] with visit from District Governor, Janet Tenreiro will now be later this year: TBD.
- The Wineglass Marathon is set to happen on the first Sunday of October on the 3rd. Stu is looking for volunteers, especially as some of our former Rotarians are no longer with with Club. If you are an early riser and want to do this special Community Service, which also bring
s back funds to our Club...please let Stu know! There are several days of short work parties - some early/ some in the afternoon. Sign up here!! - Note that on the 30th of this month, the new and updated By-Laws will be reviewed for the Club. It is very important that you review these changes that will affect how the Club is run. The vote to accept the By-Laws will take place on October the 14th.

Member news and comments:
Rick Davis expressed an idea in regards to a possible venue for in-person meetings due to the high cost of meals at our current location. He suggested that we use the culinary students and facilities at BOCES in Coopers Plains during the school year and that we have meetings only once a month during the summer.
Dick Perry was experiencing some tech difficulties but in spite of such he noted that many members had expressed to him that they are still not comfortable meeting in person to which Jeff reminded him that they still can participate using the Zoom platform.

Stu presented a spreadsheet outlining the committees as are now being set up according to the new By Laws. While many Rotarians are currently on committees or board postions there still are a lot of slots to fill and quite a few Club members who are not participating. Jeff reminded us that calls will be made to all members who have not made a choice on what committee they want to be on. Rick Davis stated that he would be more than happy to be on a variety of committees but he is just uncertain as to which he should belong. He was congratulated on his willingness to emulate the Rotarian spirit.

Bill Boland showed up via Zoom, to remind everyone of the Cherry Blossom event with planting taking place between 4:00-5:00, the holes are already dug; and at 5:00 there will be a small celebration including cherry sparkling water and cookies with cherries on top. Congrats to Bill for all his efforts in this wonderful endeavor and group collaboration! Details here.
