Announcements:
President Dale noted we have raised $3,270 from the online auction. Even better, we've gotten rid of almost all the auction items, except for the plastic chair from Pure Design. Any takers?
Next meeting: our new District Governor, Julie Carney will be visiting our Club and sharing her goals for the year. Let's fill the pews!
Bill Boland (on behalf of Cindy Long) announced the final concert of the Endless Mountain Music Festival was to be held on Sunday, August 6, at 2:30 p.m. at the Nasser Civic Center. The free concert featured Anthony Nunziata.
New Member Introduction:
Bill Boland introduced his wife Sue Boland as a new (returning) member to the Club. Sue had originally joined Corning Rotary in 2007 and quickly earned Rotarian of the Year honors. She's glad to be back. Welcome, Sue!
Paul Harris Fellow Presentation:
Dale called on Les Rosenbloom, chair of the Paul Harris Committee. Les proceeded to introduce our newest Paul Harris fellow, Ernie Danforth. Ernie has for many years dedicated his time and considerable skills to the Club. He served for many years as our Club Secretary, and is now in line to be our next President, and continues to serve on many committees, including Literacy, COGS chair, Suds for Service, the Spelling Bee, and more. Nancy Latour, a long-time friend and colleague, shared some highlights from Ernie's CV and long list of professional and community accomplishments, including those from his time as a Professor at Corning Community College, as well as with Rotary and the First Presbyterian Church of Corning. Ernie's family and colleagues were on hand to witness the surprise honor. Congratulations, Ernie on this well-deserved recognition! Video here.
Program:
Dale introduced our speaker, Colleen Fabrizi, Executive Director of the Corning Gaffer District. The Gaffer District calendar is packed full with exciting events, and Rotarians have many opportunities to volunteer individually, or as a group!
