Next Club Meeting: December 16, 2021, Holiday Party
THERE IS NO MEETING ON THURSDAY, December 9 due to the funeral services being held at that time for our dear Rotarian, Don Creath. There will also be no regular lunchtime meeting on Thursday, December 16, due to the Holiday party that evening.
We are currently meeting only by Zoom. There is no in-person meeting component for the immediate future. This is only temporary. Thanks to all who have made suggestions on new venues.

Announcements:
- Dick Puccio brought sad news regarding the passing of former Rotarian Hank Moonschien. Hank was a Rotarian many years ago. He moved to Greenville, NC where he is currently living with his wife, Janet. While here in Corning, Hank worked as an English professor at Corning Community College. What he is really known for in this community is directing many, many theatre productions including some for Roary fundraisers.
- We also noted the passing of our beloved long-time Rotarian Don Creath. Don Creath's services will be held this coming week, with calling hours on Wednesday, December 8, from 4 to 7 PM at Phillips Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, December 9, at 11 AM.
- Stu reported there will be no in-person meetings until mid-January, with the exception of the holiday party. The Board is working on various potential options, including Carey's Brew House.
- Stu also noted that the Salvation Army Red Kettle bell ringing volunteer opportunities are being finalized. Here's the sign-up information from Andy for our Rotary day at Centerway Square bell ringing: 12/18/21 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Stu also provided an update on the Community Gardens project. Two weeks ago, a group of volunteers visited Calvin E. Smith Elementary School to plant garlic. It was reportedly a nice event, and several of the Adaptive students participated in the project.
HOLIDAY PARTY!!! Thanks to Kelly Copp, we are planning a normal, in-person Holiday Party at the Corning Country Club on December 16, at 6 PM. An email went out this week - please respond by Saturday, Dec. 4!
Program:
- Paula Smith introduced Christine Foster, CID, LEED ID & C, EDAC, an interior designer and owner of eight two three Interior Planning/Design LLC, located in Horseheads. Christine discussed creating the urgent need to create awareness and advocacy for more progressive community living models for senior living facilities. She shared concepts and photos of various designs that incorporate sensory spaces within functional spaces. It is well worth the time to watch the video of the meeting for details.
