Ne xt Club Meeting: February 3, 2022, ZOOM LINK We are currently meeting only by Zoom. There is no in-person meeting component for the immediate future. This is only temporary. Thanks to all who have made suggestions on new venues. President Jeff called the meeting to order at 12:11 p.m. with the ringing of the virtual bell. He followed this with a 2 minute 3 second video rendition of Star-Spangled Banner. After the Pledge of Allegiance, Jeff led the participants in a recitation of the Four Way Test. President Jeff then conducted a poll of the attendees. The phrase was “We like January in Corning because …” The preferred response was we can count the temperature on one hand. Announcements: - Jeff announced that he has been working with Kiwanis Club and Lions Club regarding a joint meeting. The date of February 17th has been chosen and we will meet at Carey’s Brew House. The speaker will be our own Mayor Boland. Meeting has been scheduled for Carey’s at 6:30 p.m. Masks will not be required.
- Jeff then conducted another poll about masks and attending the joint meeting
- 28% of the respondents will attend if masks are required
- 33% won’t attend if masks are not required.
- 39% will not attend at all mask or no mask.
- The assumption is that the NYS mask requirement will be gone by then. The question was raised if Andy make this a hybrid meeting? Andy would set it up if allowed. Jeff will let the Lions club know that Andy would set up the hybrid meeting. Andy will talk to Joe Carey about it.
- Ernie announced that Spelling Bee is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 5th at the Middle School. Volunteers are needed as greeters, for registration and we also need help in the kitchen. The hours for greeters and registration are from 8:00 a.m. to about 9:30 a.m. Kitchen help is needed from 7:30 a.m. until early afternoon. Signups can be done through ClubRunner.
