We are currently meeting only by Zoom.  There is no in-person meeting component for the immediate future. This is only temporary.  Thanks to all who have made suggestions on new venues.

President Jeff Ugoretz was back in the saddle this week, and called the meeting to order at 12:09 p.m. Jeff shared a video rendition of the patriotic tune, "Lift Every Voice and Sing," then led us in recitations of the Pledge of Allegiance and the Rotary Four-Way Test.  Dave Anderson delivered the invocation.

Announcements:
  • Per President Jeff Ugoretz, we will hold an IN PERSON joint service club meeting with the Corning Kiwanis and Lions Clubs this coming Thursday, February 17 at 6:30 p.m. at Carey’s Brew House on Bridge Street. The Corning Lions Club will serve as hosts, and our fellow Rotarian, Corning Mayor Bill Boland, will be the featured speaker. Attendees will be able to order meals off the regular menu. Masks will not be required, as the statewide mandate has expired as of February 10.  Please note there will be no regular noon meeting this week!

  • Ernie Danforth announced that Spelling Bee is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 5th at the CPP Middle School. Volunteers are needed for two-hour shifts as greeters, for registration and in the cafeteria. This year, we have opened volunteering opportunities up to the community, and Signups can be done through ClubRunner.
  • Gil Sweet announced that the 2021-22 Corning Civic Music season is finally set to begin, with a concert featuring the Mark and Maggie O'Connor duo on February 26. Tickets are $25 per and can be ordered on the Corning Civic Music website. Civic Music has planned three more concerts this season, in March, April and June.
  • Ray Defendorf announced the Center Stage Community Theater's production of the Golden Age of Radio, will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, this Friday, Saturday at 7, Sunday at 2:00. The event will feature two performances: a drama, and a production of "My Favorite Husband," which originally starred Lucille Ball. The Friday night show will be live streaming. Check out the First Presbyterian Facebook page or YouTube channel.
 
 
  • Ernie Danforth announced that the Club has received our $1,000 matching simplified district grant, and donations of $835 to support students of the arts, in honor of Hank Moonschien. 
  • Don't miss a chance to participate in the nosh of the month.
  • Wendy Winnett shared that The Rotary Foundation Gala is coming up quickly. The virtual event will be held on Feb. 23rd at 8 pm. Register here.
  • Wendy also shared that the Rotary District Training Assembly will be held at Honeoye Central School on April 9, 2022. Each Club can have up to 6 members attend for free. Contact Wendy for more details.
 
 
Program: Jan Harvey introduced Kelly Houck, District Superintendent of GST BOCES. Kelly introduced her colleague Robert Sherburne, from the STEM Academy, a P-TECH program at the Greater Southern Tier BOCES, and Parker Wolfe, a senior at Corning-PP HS and member of the New Visions medical program at Bush Campus.
