Member Good News and Updates: Good News: Stu Sammis… Stuart Sammis and Stacy Ward reported a successful and productive flower bed project at the Kate Danforth community gardens on May 1, 2021. Stuart reported that six Rotarians and numerous non-Rotarians showed up to work, and there are now 52 beds available at the site—in addition to a wrist watch that someone left behind. Katherine Strawser and Theresa Bliss presentation concerning the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. Katherine Strawser, the Community Engagement Manager, and Theresa Bliss, the Volunteer Director of the Food Bank, made a slide presentation concerning how the Food Bank helps those in need. They described the volume of food and services delivered by the Food Bank, the organization through which the food is delivered, and the huge numbers of people served. The presentation is timely in that the Rotary’s meeting on May 20, 2021 will be held at the Food Bank’s warehouse at 388 Upper Oakwood Avenue, Elmira, NY, 14903 and the activity of the meeting will be packing food packages.
