ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  • Ray Defendorf made his presence known on ZOOM as a patient in the Arnot Hospital in Elmira. In full hospital attire Ray reported that he was (literally) laid low by a case of diverticulitis. He said he expects to recuperate at the hospital for a while before returning home. [he's now home]

  • Dave Anderson made an in-person appearance at the meeting, having recovered from Covid-19. Dave announced that Sam Sanfratello is waiting for a blood test on Monday along with a chemo injection. He sends a friendly hello to all the Club members. Dave also reports that Clint Janes is in the process of moving to the Bampa House. [Stu sent a notice out that Clint has subsequently passed]...
  • Wendy Winnett reported that October 24 is World Polio Day. She said that polio appears to be back on the move again in New York State. She asked each member to consider a $20 contribution to fight the disease.
  • Stu said that Emily Marino, the CEO of the Chemung River Friends, has asked Rotary to join a tree planting party along with the Upper Susquehanna Coalition on Friday, October 14 from 4:00 to 6:00. Emily subsequently cancelled the party for the immediate future.
  • Stu again could not restrain his praise for those who worked hard and successfully to find potential locations for Rotary’s luncheon meetings.
